The
World Wide Web curriculum provides students with the information and skills
needed to qualify for entry-level jobs in Web page development, Web page
maintenance, and Web management, including the basic skills needed for
positions as Webmasters. The program also provides current employees who
find themselves assigned Web page responsibilities or who wish to develop
Web pages for their businesses with necessary skills and information to
carry out these tasks.
The program includes four certificates that are highly related: Web
Site Developer (15 credit hours),
Web Site Support and Maintenance (27 credit hours), and
Advanced Web site Development (41 credit hours). The Web Site Developer
certificate is designed especially for people with experience using the
web who have added basic, web page development responsibilities. The Web
Site Support and Maintenance certificate is best suited for managers or
supervisors who need to have some programming ability or knowledge but
whose primary responsibility is to manage the site and to keep the information
up to date. It concentrates on the more visible aspects of the Web site.
The Advanced Web Site Development certificate is more technical. The program
demands a working knowledge of scripting and an object-oriented programming
language along with Web server programming.
The Web Based Course Developer (16 credit
hours) certificate is geared toward those who want to participate in the
expanding function of e-learning in the corporate training arena. Courses
in this certificate present e-learning theory as well as the web technology
needed to create "just-in-time," short training modules to support
basic training and updating of skills.
